ECOPROFIT – environmental management program for companies and oganisations
ECOPROFIT is a program for integrated environmental management for companies and organisations with a strong focus on the application of established best practices.
ECOPROFIT is a registered international protected trademark of the City of Graz in Austria. In summer 2023, it was officially recognised by the European Commission as a pre-stage of the European environmental management system EMAS, fulfilling 50% of the EMAS criteria.
For a first certification a foundation program has to be attended (8 units), afterwards the renewal of the certification requires participation in a follow up program.
Companies of all sizes and sectors can participate in Ecoprofit. Ecoprofit is a registered international protected trademark of the City of Graz in Austria.
Contents
Participants have to develop an environmental policy and guidelines for the company, set up a monitoring system for waste, water, energy , emissions, mobility etc as well as developing strategies for their avoidance and reduction. Companies also have to make material flow analysis and check other economic aspects of resource optimisation, make an energy analysis and calculation of CO2 perfomance, avoid and deal appropriately with hazardous substances, apply relevant environmental laws. Target is to implement an effective Eco-controlling system with key indicators for ecological and economical success.
Yearly Certification
Companies have to submit an Ecoprofit- report every year and go through a yearly audition to guarantee a continuous process of optimization.
The Ecoprofit-certificate rewards the environmental work and the implementation of an environmental management system with continuous environmentel improval in the participating companies.
Learning with experts and other companies
Ecoprofit is also a learning process: By completing the sequence of workshops the participants gain a sound knowledge of integrated environmental management and can exchange knowledge with other companies. Companies also receive individual consultations including a potential analysis on site from experts.
At the moment more than 200 companies are certified in Vorarlberg.
